Share your pics, videos, streets, stories of what you find in the bike lane of the non-bike variety that has an impact on your ride and/or your safety. I've decided to keep it a little more open ended - cars, snow, buses, garbage, cabs, etc. If they shouldn't be in the bike lane, go ahead and add it to this thread. Please be safe if you are taking pics or video! :-)

My hope is that we can collectively build some evidence of what we see when riding in the city with the overall hope of better enforcement of "bikes only" and improving maintenance.

Update: More Hashtags to Capture Vehicles in the Bike Lane

With popular hashtags:
#BikeLaneShaming

#LaneSpreading (Chicago Bike Selling)

#ClearTheWay (ActiveTrans), there are many options to capture violations.

We think you should use ALL of them AND post your photos on The Chainlink. ;-)

200 W Randolph St. 311 report submitted. Of course the numbnut municipal worker could park six feet to the left in the X'd area of the street. Too much work I guess.

Literally cut me off to get around stopped traffic, by using the bike lane as a slip lane. I was not able to safely stop in time to avoid rear-ending her vehicle. Just barely bumped her, enough to leave a black rubber scuff on her white bumper. No injuries or damage.

She pulled half way into the parking to the right and I pulled up next to her in the bike lane. I told her I had video of the accident. She had the gall to say I endangered her life... So I called the police, to ensure I didn't present any further danger.

Police were called to the scene (a few hundred feet from the police station). She made false statements to the officers on scene. We then went to the station where a report was made while she made a point to talk to every officer behind the desk, addressing them as friends, while also making false statements.

I'm half hoping she takes matters further so I get to use the video evidence of her dangerous and illegal driving.

Let's hope so. Good luck.

225 N Franklin St. 311 report submitted. I'm probably more shocked by the fact that the taxi (correctly) stopped in the traffic lane to pic up passengers, rather than illegally in the shared lane. Remarkable.

125 S Franklin St. 311 report submitted. Dept of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection pulling over a pedicab. I can't say I've ever seen a taxi pulled over, but for sure we have to ticket the pedicabs. Of course it's too much work to pull over to the empty curb, so let's hang half our a-- in the bike lane.
