Share your pics, videos, streets, stories of what you find in the bike lane of the non-bike variety that has an impact on your ride and/or your safety. I've decided to keep it a little more open ended - cars, snow, buses, garbage, cabs, etc. If they shouldn't be in the bike lane, go ahead and add it to this thread. Please be safe if you are taking pics or video! :-)

My hope is that we can collectively build some evidence of what we see when riding in the city with the overall hope of better enforcement of "bikes only" and improving maintenance.

Update: More Hashtags to Capture Vehicles in the Bike Lane

With popular hashtags:
#BikeLaneShaming

#LaneSpreading (Chicago Bike Selling)

#ClearTheWay (ActiveTrans), there are many options to capture violations.

We think you should use ALL of them AND post your photos on The Chainlink. ;-)

I think you should consider Bob's suggestions. By the way I have made two reports to CTA about aggressive drivers. Both times I got a response. The second time I also sent a letter because the driver ran a stop sign and nearly hit me, forcing me into the lane on the wrong side of the street. I heard back from both the regular complaint line as well as the legal office where I sent the letter to.

I agree. I find I'm a luke-warm advocate for bike lanes in general, but winter snow clearance is a major issue. The Jackson Blvd lane I take every workday is non-protected ("buffered"), and yet it is rarely plowed in the winter. This requires me to ride in the narrowed roadway, competing with the cars. I have not found reporting this condition to be effective.

Thanks for the link to the CTA feedback page. I've submitted a report with links to the photos.

324 S Desplaines St. 311 report submitted. There is legal parking in front of this fire station 8 feet to the left of the bike lane. Absolutely no reason why he has to be in the bike lane.

802 S Halsted St. 311 report submitted. 'More like Muscle Head. There's legal parking 50 ft in front of the truck.
