Share your pics, videos, streets, stories of what you find in the bike lane of the non-bike variety that has an impact on your ride and/or your safety. I've decided to keep it a little more open ended - cars, snow, buses, garbage, cabs, etc. If they shouldn't be in the bike lane, go ahead and add it to this thread. Please be safe if you are taking pics or video! :-)

My hope is that we can collectively build some evidence of what we see when riding in the city with the overall hope of better enforcement of "bikes only" and improving maintenance.

Update: More Hashtags to Capture Vehicles in the Bike Lane

With popular hashtags:
#BikeLaneShaming

#LaneSpreading (Chicago Bike Selling)

#ClearTheWay (ActiveTrans), there are many options to capture violations.

We think you should use ALL of them AND post your photos on The Chainlink. ;-)

Ha ha. He can't be serious. You get ticketed and towed for parking in a bike lane in Chicago?

My a** you do. I've got close to 600 pieces of evidence to prove my point. I'd like to see the Alderman's evidence of the claim.

351 N Orleans St. 311 report submitted. Well, this is a first. One vehicle nabbed twice on the same trip. It appears that this bus driver thinks the bike lane is his personal bus lane.

Is that even a bike lane?

Yes, it's a shared bike lane, allowing cars to turn right on Wacker. It's not a cab stand.

Sharrow lane is not a bike lane.

Actually it looks like they are in a bus stop.

Yes, it's a bus stop, and a shared bike lane. Buses are allowed to stop in a regular or shared bike lane to discharge passengers. All other vehicles are not. There a better picture posted on 8/21/17 at Here.

Section 9-40-060 of the Chicago code states:

The driver of a vehicle shall not stand or park the vehicle upon any lane designated by pavement markings for the shared use of motor vehicles and bicycles, or place the vehicle in such a manner as to impede bicycle traffic on such lane;

It's really quite simple. Vehicles are allowed to use shared lanes when they are moving, or waiting to turn at an intersection. They are not allowed to camp out in the shared lane.

Dude, they stopped at a bus stop to pick up/drop off somebody; is this really that big of a deal to you?

Does it ever get tiring only looking at things from the most negative and selfish point of view?
