Share your pics, videos, streets, stories of what you find in the bike lane of the non-bike variety that has an impact on your ride and/or your safety. I've decided to keep it a little more open ended - cars, snow, buses, garbage, cabs, etc. If they shouldn't be in the bike lane, go ahead and add it to this thread. Please be safe if you are taking pics or video! :-)

My hope is that we can collectively build some evidence of what we see when riding in the city with the overall hope of better enforcement of "bikes only" and improving maintenance.

Update: More Hashtags to Capture Vehicles in the Bike Lane

With popular hashtags:
#BikeLaneShaming

#LaneSpreading (Chicago Bike Selling)

#ClearTheWay (ActiveTrans), there are many options to capture violations.

We think you should use ALL of them AND post your photos on The Chainlink. ;-)

Like I said, I "ran into" him.   ;)

Washington between Canal and Franklin continues to be an issue.

This morning, there was an Uber parked in the lane just east of Canal, despite plenty of room around the corner and across the street. No passenger in sight. At Wacker, a livery driver thought it would be a good idea to stop in the middle of the lane on a 45 degree angle. When I passed him, he suddenly gunned the engine, actually striking me with his side mirror. Fortunately, it was the collapsing type.

Passed the same intersection on my lunch break, and a USPS truck was parked at the mouth of the "protected" lane, completely blocking it and making it impossible to pass without "taking" the CTA bus lane and riding over a grate. But the alderman is TOTALLY cracking down on this sort of thing.

This thread has over 2000 replies, from what seems like a very small number of people participating. I used to send in some pictures, but the reality is that I could fill another page with replies every day just from a normal commute to downtown. Is this thread useful as a way of causing change, or has it just become something to do? I'm losing hope.

There was a box truck unloading in the Dearborn lane during afternoon rush yesterday. I carefully used the (crowded) sidewalk to pass it, only to be nearly hit by a driver who was pulling out of an alley without looking both ways.

Some of the earlier posts about Dearborn are followed by replies saying that it keeps getting better. Then why so many egregious examples in this thread in the past 3 days alone?

Heck, I'm not going to post pictures every time this happens, but...right outside of where I work...Illinois Street just east of Rush, the bike lane is along the curb. People commonly use that for dropoffs and pickups (and I'm not talking the CTA bus stop further down), usually rideshare services. Really, I'm going to start grabbing plate info and stuff and sending it to Lyftber.

US Foods on Clinton. Huge spot one door south.
