Share your pics, videos, streets, stories of what you find in the bike lane of the non-bike variety that has an impact on your ride and/or your safety. I've decided to keep it a little more open ended - cars, snow, buses, garbage, cabs, etc. If they shouldn't be in the bike lane, go ahead and add it to this thread. Please be safe if you are taking pics or video! :-)

My hope is that we can collectively build some evidence of what we see when riding in the city with the overall hope of better enforcement of "bikes only" and improving maintenance.

Update: More Hashtags to Capture Vehicles in the Bike Lane

With popular hashtags:
#BikeLaneShaming

#LaneSpreading (Chicago Bike Selling)

#ClearTheWay (ActiveTrans), there are many options to capture violations.

We think you should use ALL of them AND post your photos on The Chainlink. ;-)

I was on vacation for a week. I arrived in Toronto late on Tuesday, and after checking in to my hotel, decided to go grab a late dinner at a restaurant 2 blocks from my hotel. It appears that Toronto is a very bike friendly city. A block from the hotel I crossed my first bike lane, and of course there was a vehicle illegally parked in it. Lol. I just can't get away from this cr*p.

The following day I purchased a day pass for the city's bike share program, which is basically the same as Divvy. With the exchange rate, it wound up costing me $6. I used the bike from morning to dinner, and probably logged 12 miles. I tell you, it was money well spent. Fortunately I didn't encounter a single vehicle in the bike lane all day.

27 N Franklin St. 311 report submitted. Is there a contact for FedEx where these a** wipes can be reported?

On a positive note, it appears that it only takes several months of kvetching to get the city to do something. They finally repainted the bike lane lines on Franklin between Lake and Wacker. 'Small victory I guess.

FedEx is the worst with complaints - if you aren't a customer they just don't care. I have found their website difficult to navigate just to find how to file a complaint, store managers don't care, and we see how little the drivers care about safety.

But at least now the drivers can't say they didn't know they were in the bike lane because of almost non-existent markings!

I've had decent luck getting at least what appears to be a serious response by their twitter team. Though this was after I almost got cleaned out by a truck that cut into the bike lane that I currently occupied, so I was pretty steamed. That said despite the positive message from their support who knows if anything came of it.

95 S Franklin St. 311 report submitted. 'Had a nauseating conversation with the Uber driver. I asked him why he was parked illegally in the bike lane. She said he wasn't parked, but was just stopping to pick up passengers. I then asked him why he didn't stop in the right traffic lane, leaving the bike lane clear? He said he didn't want to block traffic. W.T.F. I ripped into him explaining that blocking the bike lane is no different. I managed to keep him occupied long enough for his passengers to get angry. One guy in the back asked me to move along, and I not so kindly told him to f*ck off.

101 N Franklin St. 311 report submitted. Please feel free to contact the bus company and ask them why their drivers are ignorant a-holes.

I contacted the bus company, and got a quick reply back thanking me for brining it to their attention. They said that they would speak with the driver. If you do contact them, please be gentle...at least for now. :-)
