Has anyone ever done the Erie Canal ride or Hudson River Valley ride?  Just curious.

i grew up around there the canal path isn't bad, it can get crowded around rochester when it goes through. Also some portions are paved and others arent. If you are around there personally I would take a ride around Canandaigua lake.
I've done the Amazing Adirondack Adventure which is put on by the same people as the Erie Canal ride. They are well organized and know how to produce a great ride and I would definitely do another of their rides. That said, the food in upstate NY is kind of like the food in Northern Wisconsin, not great. The erie canal ride is relatively flat and straight, so it may not be the most interesting from a geographic standpoint.

True elevation on that ride is basically non-existant.

When I lived there I did a century called the highlander that was quite the ride. Pretty tough climbs, some being 23% grade at the most for a mile long. At time I would do portions of that ride maybe 60-80 miles of it for training. Great ride, beautiful ride, with some of the longest descends in NY (The catskills and adriondecks probably have better ones). Still its one of the most fun rides out there.

There are some serious slopes in the Catskills and Adirondacks - no doubt about that.
I heard from a friend that the Erie Canal path is pretty monotonous.
