Tour of North Center This Sunday!! - in partnership with The Chainlink

It's a pretty exciting weekend at The Chainlink - we're partnering with Lee Diamond and Big Shoulders Realty on one of their neighborhood rides! The Tour of North Center covers North Center, Roscoe Village and St. Ben's neighborhoods - it's the area generally bound by Montrose on the north, Addison on the south, and Clark and California at east and west. At least for me, I ride through the area a ton and don't think much of it - it'd be cool to actually uncover the stories and history of it.

These rides are really well-researched and are a great way to learn cool things about the area - it's like the architecture tour, except on a bike. North Center has a rich history and a very cool story to tell.

I really hope you'll join us for the ride! Who's in?

Will there be a second tour at 6pm? If that's the case, count me in.
A slight correction...eastern boundary is west side of Ravenswood and western boundary is the Chicago river. But it is a lovely community with lots of wonderful architecture, some nice parks, and one of the most impressive schools in the entire city. Hope some folks can makeit out....and no- there is no 6:00 PM tour, HOWEVER there likely WILL be a post-ride drinks and meal worked out with Just Jason and the Eat to Ride, Ride to Eat group....stay tuned for the details!
Here are a few updates. First of all, Ross' poster is available as a high-res PDF for download.

There is also a tour sheet with a map on one side and turn by turn instructions on the other.

You can see some pictures on the CCACFC website at this discussion:

And lastly, the map my ride page has been updated to reflect the route changes.

aww man, you're going right in front of my house, too.
Starting to look like we will avoid the rain.

I am not quite sure of what to think about when i consider the possibility of two rides in a row withou rain, snow, sleet, hail, insane winds, or polar temperatures. According to Accuweather though:

High: 75 °F RealFeel®: 73 °F
A morning shower or thunderstorm around; otherwise, mostly cloudy and windy

Sounds like we will be in the clear by the ride, and while not sunny, who doesn't enjoy a nice Sunday afternoon in the 70°s?

Sweet!

Cheers and hope to see some of you out there.
Urgh....If it continues to rain, thunder n' lightning, I may have to chicken out... :-(
I will mock you without you being able to defend your yellow belly. :)

Here comes the sun..de da doo da
We had a great ride today!! The weather cleared up right as the ride began and - dare we say it - we were even hot as we were riding around! We learned some very cool info about the area. For example, it was a center of the city's brickmaking industry until the residents complained to the city, so they shut down the industry... and replaced it with a garbage dump. Moral of the story? When it comes to complaining to the city, be careful what you wish for!

Thanks to Lee for an awesome ride, and for letting me be the scoop! Thanks also to Brian for sweeping!

Here are some pics from the ride (also in the pictures section). If you have more, post them here and/or under photos. And tag them "Tour of North Center"!

Thanks so much for coming out everyone. Definitely a fun ride! I will be posting lots of pics soon....cheers and thanks...

btw - the tie-in with the ride to eat, eat to ride group is a geat addition!!!! Thanks Jason! Here's to more.
Oh hell yeah. Bikes, awesome architecture, great company, badass '80s punk rock talk, beer, and not getting back home until 9:45...

Now THAT'S a great day! Thanks to Lee and Leah, and to everyone for coming out!
Thanks to Martin for the walkie talkies! Those were awesome. Martin, I have a clip for one of them somehow! Par for the course I am sure.

Thanks also to Brian for Sweeping. Cheers to one and all....

......standing offer - if 10 people can convene on a predetermined time, we can ride it again. Cheers!
