Awesome! That video could very well be Chicago or any other city and town if the gas prices reached $6.48 as in the Netherlands. The highest price for a gallon of gas in the world.

But yes! Bring on the snow!
Interesting that you think winter riding in the Netherlands is sexy. Earlier this week when this snow hit, it led to the longest evening rush hour on record. Public transit was running with multi-hour delays, or just stopped running altogether. The average driver in the Netherlands simply does not possess the skills to deal with this kind of weather.

Winter riding is one of those times where you can count yourself lucky living in Chicago. At least this city knows how to plow the streets
Bait and switch, Iggi. Not fair.
the first snow always grounds everything to a halt just about anywhere. just this week the buffalo, ny commuters were stuck in their cars about 10hrs after they were hit with a storm. have you ever tried driving on chicago's highways right after a dusting of snow?

what i find sexy, tho, is the sheer volume of undeterred rider. no one is racing like people seem to here, and that no one appears to be really 'uber-geared' up in cyclowear, just casual folk riding casual bikes. simplicity is sexiness to me.

i'm officially turned on... btw if there is snow tomorrow. I offered John I would lead the first snow ride in his absence. lets make it worth it!!!
odd how no one wears helmets there - but then again they arent riding with car traffic like we do here. I love riding in the cold, once I am out in it that is....my warm apt is too tough to leave sometimes.
Randy Neufeld talked about this phenomenon at the Humanities Festival Panel recently. Drivers are simply more aware of cyclists and watch out for cyclists. Which equals less crashes.

I always say that it's never as cold outside in the morning as I make it out to be in my mind while I'm still in bed.
I suspect that riding at the speed of molasses plays a role in this as well.

Turns me on too...But the reality is winter, meaning ICE...So my trail riding is done AND
I will not do surface streets given the texting, make-up applying and other poor drivers.
