The Chainlink

This Saturday, May 26th, marks three years since a meeting was held at North Park University, about the Weber Spur Trail. It's time to light a fire on this project, to get it going again. Should we start a petition on Change.Org for this?

Contact people you can write or email to advocating this:

Ald. Margaret Laurino, 39th Ward: Alderman Margaret Laurino a href="mailto:ward39@cityofchicago.org">ward39@cityofchicago.org>

Colby Rinker, Union Pacific Property Management Cook County: a href="mailto:cwrinker@UP.com">cwrinker@UP.com>

We need a strong community outreach to call attention to this project. Send an email to both of the above supporting this project. Add your own, or borrow some pictures from this link.

In the 45th Ward, we just had a period of requests for our participatory budgeting, and my suggestion was to have money go toward the Weber Spur. No idea if it’ll make it to the ballot or not (or how realistic it is for PB money to go toward it) but I’m hoping Arena gets back to advocating it and we see some progress in this project soon.

I really don't know why more progress hasn't occurred to make the Weber Spur path on the Chicago side, a reality. Especially since Lincolnwood, IL made bike trails, out of the 2 abandoned north-south tracks that go through that town! And that this route is a bike trail, north of Devon Ave if I recall correctly.

Pictures of the Weber Spur, before it was completed. Going north from Devon to Touhy through Lincolnwood.

To the west of that in Lincolnwood is another bike path that goes all the way up to Dempster and the Yellow Line CTA stop.
