I spent a little volunteer time with the kids last week when they were bringing tools to the shop.  This week they're continuing their training.  It's great to see their enthusiasm for bikes and I enjoyed being able to encourage it a bit.
Sounds cool but I am a little unclear on what to expect if I swing by there with one of my bikes. Are there tune-ups, flats fixed, that kind of stuff? Is this really a one day bike shop? If it were a hit a lot of bikes could show up. Serviced while you wait? I think I have to stop in just to see what its all about.

Flats fixed, basic adjustments, that kind of stuff. Yes, it's really a one day bike shop.

I believe they're aiming for service while you wait. There are lots of restaurants and some good bakeries nearby.

Definitely service while you wait, and definitely basic maintenance, Ken. It's ABC Quick Check stuff:

Air in the tires?

Brakes work?

Chain lubed?

Quick release/bolts tight?

Check for any other loose & rattly parts.

If your bike needs more than that, bring another bike.

Think bike shop staffed by middle schoolers who have learned to do the above, come on down, and share in this amazing thing.
