I am planning to ride 30 miles at an average speed of 10 - 12 mph. (It could be a little faster, as I have a new, lighter bike.) I would enjoy having a partner or two along for the ride. Would anyone be interested?

Personally, I feel that anyone willing to make a post on an Internet message board looking for a couple folks to go out and enjoy a 30-mile ride at whatever pace is almost certainly the exact opposite of "old." Rock on, Alice.

So now it looks like we need to find some rides out there.
I may be able to use my fiance's (or wait, husband, wow that's a first) car (which I guess makes it mine now). Depends on what he has going on that day. Best I can fit also is 2 bikes and one person besides myself.
Who else has a car and can fit people and bikes?
- Yes that's awesome. Yasmeen and I have never done a long ride together. Maybe I can keep up with her.

I'm going with Brett & Yasmeen. I hope you can do it also.
- Yes. Let's do it! Last time you and Kelly B. introduced me to drafting. That was a trip and I didn't believe you guys that we were going as fast as we did.

Alice,
I am sorry I won't be in town because you and I would be just fine together. Although 30 miles is no longer long for me, I am in my very late 50s and ride like a snail.
That being said, there are some great chainlinkers who might be willing to make it a relaxed riding day with you. And we should keep in touch for the future!

Dear Jeff,
I am a little afraid of forming a group. What I had in mind was riding with one or two other individuals. In large groups I tend to get left behind, as I am short (barely 5 feet), old (in my 60's, though I work out regularly), and 30 miles is a long distance for me. Hopefully there will be at least one person who will be willing to hang back with me.
Alice
Thanks, Lisa,
We should keep in touch. There are lots of bike trails in the Chicago area that I have never tried and that I am eager to check out.

So ... are we Chainlinkers going to meet up? When and where?
yes, coordinating rides right now.
Anyone else already have a plan and want to ride and/or meetup?
I'm doing 62m with my fiance and brother. Unfortunately, I haven't any room in the car/bike rack, but will hopefully get a chance to meet some new faces!
