yippeeee !
That is one of those mean ugly racks, but at least you now have a rack to lock up to:)
Why do places insist on installing these racks? You can't use them the way they were intended because you can barely get your wheel into the rack -- forget a uLock on the frame.
Can you guys just be happy for me :))
The Bike Rack G-ds Heard My Plea!

The Bike Rack Gangster Disciples-- is that like some sort of Guardian Angels for cyclists?
I did give you a smile! :) I would be happy too! even if it is one of those racks a car driver would give a cyclist.
It's really hard to be happy when you see this garbage.

Those racks are alright (not good; just alright) if your bike has sufficient clearance between the front tire and the frame downtube. Hoist the wheel over the top bar of the rack, prop the fork crown against it and snake your D-lock through the whole mess. Being skilled at Tetris is helpful as is wrapping your frame's downtube with hockey stick tape. Anyway, congrats. It is definitely better than locking your bike to a middle aged man of ambiguous Eastern European descent that's wielding a hammer drill which is what I'll presume you were doing prior to the rack's installation.
Can someone show us examples of "good" racks? I know there is the rack hall of shame thread here somewhere....
I feel the need to add that most racks of this style tend to be constructed from the same thin-walled, galvanized tubing as fence posts. Make of that what you will.
Have any of you seen someone cut this type of rack?
