Stupid passengers (yes - passengers)

I work up in downtown Evanston, so I take Chicago/Clark home.

I'm biking home tonight, and at Morse and Clark, a passenger in a car has this exchange with me:
SP: "You riding your bike like you a car."
Me: "What am I supposed to do?"
SP: "Get out the street."

Yes, yes, it's true. I was riding my bike like I was a car, ie. in the lane. And did anyone honk at me or complain from Davis and Chicago until then? Also, did the driver of this car say a single thing to me?

On both counts: No.

Everyone was going so slowly that I even had to stop multiple times behind a minivan that was in front of me.

I really hope that guy was the passenger because he doesn't have a license.

people are such idiots. I got honked at tonight for taking over the lane for my personal safety. The law does say we can veer off the "bike lane" if conditions prohibit us from riding in it. We are doing nothing wrong.

Damn straight. The law is that bikes have to be as far over to the right as "practical", and that interpretation is certainly up to the discretion of the cyclist.

It's like "Excuse me Mr. Motorist, but I'm afraid it's just not PRACTICAL to ride all the way to the right in this slick-assed glacier!!"

I especially liked it when I got honked at when I was stopped waiting for block long line of cars in front of me. Where do they think they are going to go?

Always take the lane! Its better than falling into traffic from the area where the bike lane was...we pay taxes. They just don't use the money on salt...

Drivers are one thing...but passengers, WTF! Lame..."Hey mom can you come pick me up, ha ha"
