Rechargeable batteries have been around for decades

In power tools Double A Triple A in your phones tablets computers...

Yes some are poorly made but they don't spontaneously explode on a regular basis 

E bike batteries need to be charged correctly 

Trying to charge it faster than is recommended or safe to do will cause them to blow out and explode much like using a charger to recharge a disposable battery 

Hacking or removing regulators on bikes and scooters will also cause problems 

You don't see Divvy or Citi bikes catching fire now do you?

I've had an e-bike since 2020, as well as many other kinds of devices with rechargeable batteries. Charging them according to manufacturers' instructions works like a charm. They've all been reliable with no fires or other problems.
