Finally! That's such good news.

Link broken?

Thanks Mike, it should be working now.

Better than nothing, though a bit limited.

I hope as it gets started they see the benefit of expanding it to more days and stations. I'm disappointed it's limited to Saturday and Sunday when many people like to do a 3-day camping trip that would start on Friday.

The problem is half the stations don't have level platforms and the trains are several feet off the ground requiring stairs and possibly a stool to exit.

None of the Metra lines except the Electric have level platforms either.  However, the Metra solves this with a fairly comfortable set of steps inside the car, whereas the South Shore has steep, narrow steps outside the car.  The bike car is an entirely new piece rolling stock, and its odd that it wasn't designed to accommodate the non-platformed stations.

The car or cars are not new rolling stock. They took out a few seats to install racks, which can't accommodate the 'new' fat tires. Here's a link to the brochure:  http://www.nictd.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/bikes-on-weekend-tr...

i don't see anywhere on their brochure about the number of bicycles allowed per train, nor do they say- if like on Metra- the conductor may put you off mid-trip if they need room on the train.

Correction: Space for 40 bikes per train run. More cars will be added on weekends so as not to reduce regular rider seating availability.

or south bend!

their weekend pilot program is set to launch on April 2. presumably because it's a pilot program, only select trains, only select stations, and only through October 30.
