Route Advice: Albany Park->IL Beach SP->Bong Rec->Chain O Lakes->Albany Park

Looking for a little feedback.  Headed out Sunday for a few days, have ridden up to Kenosha a handful of times, but not too far beyond.  Does anyone have input?

Any thoughts specifically on:

1) Burlington Rd, west out of Kenosha?

2) Chain O Lakes vs NW Suburban Alternatives for an overnight camp?

3) Routing from Bong south?

No route advice, but beware that IB State Park is super busy this year. We were turned away (on our bikes) a few weeks back. (You can only make a reservation if you're staying two nights, which we didn't have time to do.)

My route, from a few years ago. Mostly off-road on trails almost all the way to the Wisconsin Border.

North River Branch Trail, Skokie Valley Bike Path, North Shore Bike Path, Desplaines River Trail

The Wisconsin roads to the Bong State Park, or to Burlington.

Thanks!  I made a reservation mid-week.  It allowed me to make a one night only reservation.

It looks like you rode along 142 for a good long while.  Was it a nice ride?

Rt 142 wasn't a bad road, if I remember correctly.  Nothing especially exciting or attractive, other than the Bong State Park on the way from Kenosha to Burlington.  The main reason to taking it was to get to Burlington; there a bike path along the side of the road north from there.

Just past the expressway, on the north side, is an inexpensive motel, the Oasis Inn.  I've stayed there a couple of times.

The last few times I took Rt 142 there was construction in various locations along the way.  Probably finished now, and new ones started at other places.
