My excellent roommate Melissa just completed culinary school and got an exciting offer to cook at a lodge in Custer State Park in South Dakota, starting Monday. So I’m looking for someone to take her place in our very nice, conveniently located apartment in Logan Square.

The new roommate’s rent would be $500/month plus utilities, plus a $500 security deposit. The room is available immediately, but moving in any time before May 31 would be OK.

The place is completely furnished, so this would be great for someone without a lot of stuff. In fact, the new roommate can use Melissa’s bed, armchair and dresser if they like. The room includes a normal clothes closet, plus a huge second closet, used by a former tenant as a darkroom.

I’m a 39-year-old, non-smoking freelance writer and bike shop staffer. I like to keep things nice – dishes done promptly, no smoking in the house, regular housecleaning, etc.

Some features of the apartment, on the 2400 block of N. Albany, on the first floor.

- Three block walk from CTA Blue Line’s Logan Square Stop, one block from Dill Pickle Food Co-op and a public library, a short walk to Palmer Square Park, Lula Café, Longman and Eagle, Revolution Brewing, The Whistler, Logan Square Auditorium, Logan Theater, Boulevard Bikes, etc.

- On a quiet street where literally a dozen of my bicycling friends live, slated to get the city’s first traffic-calmed, bike- and ped-friendly “home zone”

- Hardwood floors, free laundry in building, recently rehabbed kitchen, dishwasher, small private porch, shared above-ground deck and ground-level patio, small garden
