So I've been riding for almost ten years. I moved to the South Loop a few years ago. I rode last year predominantly with the Spider Monkeys, but I'm tired of riding 30 minutes just to get to the ride (I have no car). I know Mox rides out of the West Loop, but I'm honestly a little tired of the whole club ride thing.
I'm basically just looking to hook up with some people to do weekend rides (40-60 miles, 18-22 mph cruising) starting in or near the Loop. Anyone?

Why not just ride to where some group starts and bail early to account for the distance between your house and the starting point?
Like I said, I'm tired of big club rides. I'm looking to do rides with a smaller group of people, not 40 people. Saw too many crashes happen last year.
I don't know how big the groups are, or if this will fit with what you are looking for, but Chicago Cycling Club has scheduled rides for the faster folks. The only ones on the schedule right now are Wednesday Night Training Rides that start up north, but I think there was another night and group that started around Buckingham Fountain. Maybe someone who know more about it could fill in the details here. :-)
I don't think all clubs are big. I'd check around with bike shops in a radius (a few miles) around your place and see what their club rides are like as far as size and pace. They won't all be monster packs like (I think) 2CC or XXX. I live in Evanston and ride solo, but I've seen some smaller groups (< 10) coming up from the city.
When they start up, CCC's Monday night South Loop to South Side rides are SMALL by the ride leader's choice and safety is a concern in that decision. Check back for schedule update, as many more rides will be added in the coming weeks.
On other rides, it can't hurt to ask the ride leader (email or phone call) how they deal with this issue and if they put any limit on group size. Just because it's a club ride, it's not necessarily a huge group.

Hey Cesar over here. girlfriend lives in Pilsen so I'm around that area pretty often. Hit me up
I'm in the s.loop by the way...and have a ride penciled in for 4/15/2014...barring extreme weather...200k...start in Naperville. But also ride frequently out of the loop (during the warmer months). I'm up for a ride most weekends!
