9/20/12 Damen from Division to Jackson is "Rough Grooved Surface." Plan accordingly.

Yeah, I heard a pick-up skid into a parked car on Hubbard this evening while I was riding home. Glad I took it very slowly.
(Separate note, does anyone have thoughts about the new stoplight on Kinzie now that it's operating? I sort of think it's totally fine and actually makes things saner at that intersection.)

Ice people... be careful.
Southbound Clark St. north of Devon milled down for blocks. (I start at Lunt, so it might go all the way to Howard for all I know) That stretch has been in a semi-completed state since last year. Here's hoping they'll be able to finish before Spring.
I've got good news for folks who live or ride in and around north Beverly. A while back, I noticed a utility project along 91st St. between the Metra tracks and Ashland. In recent years, the pavement could be described as lunar without any exaggeration. They're finally wrapping up the construction. The street has been repaved. Yeah!!!!!
Now there's a rideable connection again between north Beverly and Vincennes.
I agree, the light makes that intersection much more sane.
On a different note - if anyone goes in the "back way" (Whipple to Cornelia) to the Addison Target, it's a mess right now and pretty torn up.

Good news! Clark St. southbound getting new asphalt between Pratt and Devon today.
It is the continuation of the wolf point construction chaos. They have been excavating for a couple of months. Warmer weather probably allowed them to step it up. It is going to get worse, I am sure, and we will all need to find alternative routes.
Has anyone heard anything more about the plan to move the protected bike lane to another east/west street?

Caught a lot of heavy machinery at Kinzie and Kingsbury today - dump trucks idling in the protected lane and big equipment forcing a lane shift through the intersection around noon. Is this the start of the wolf point construction chaos?
It is my understanding that construction traffic enters the construction site via N Orleans St. Is that not true?

There is a truck entrance from Kinzie just east of the river. I don't know if there is another entrance/exit from Orleans. Before the deep freeze and never-ending snow, there were routinely trucks waiting on Kinzie just west of Canal in the bike lane. Apparently Julia ran into them yesterday.

No obstructions on EB Kinzie this morning around 7:30. I did see the WB lane construction crap all over the place near the bridge. Frustrating. Anyone know if CDOT has put out any information about this?
I rode WB. Just take the lane from N Orleans to near the bridge. Not a big deal.
