After thinking all day that the fun had gone out of April Fool's day because, well, you know it's April Fool's day... I just realized this morning I was pranked.

On Monday morning XRT began a project to play every song they've ever played in their 40 year history in alphabetical order (by title.) They were saying it would take them through Memorial day.  All day Monday, various A's, some I haven't heard in years, some I've never heard.  I was absolutely loving it. To those who don't listen to XRT-- not too long ago they featured a different year of their history for 40 weekdays to celebrate 40 years on the air (was lovin' that too), so not a totally preposterous concept....

Afternoon DJ comes in and plays his usual stuff, and I think, "Oh well, I guess it's only going to be a daytime thing."

Next morning-- the usual stuff. I think "maybe it's only certain days." I look on their website and only find a brief blurb about it starting Monday.

Today..... do'h!

Anyone else fall for a prank for any significant amount of time this year?

I didn't fall it for this one, but I was so hoping it would be true...

I keep to myself on April 1 so I can't be pranked.

XRT?  I tuned into them about a month ago, heard the same shit I heard 20 years ago.  #Irrelevant.

Years ago, when I was living in NH, I was listening to a Boston station that pulled a good prank.  They were playing a lot of live cuts by big name bands and claiming it was an all day surprise concert at a local venue.

Anything is possible, Howard.

Personally, I listen to internet radio all the time now, not liking anything at all about commercial radio.  I'm so out of it I don't have a clue about any of the folks you named.

That's kind of amazing!

In the last hour they've played Matt and Kim, Vampire Weekend, Decemberists, Black Keys, and Passion Pit.

Is it possible you encountered some sort of bubble in the space time continuum the day you tuned in?

There was a time I gave up on them because it seemed like three out of 4 songs were Talking Heads but I think they're doing a good job of staying current at the moment.

They also feature a different year every Saturday morning- that would be funny if you caught them on a morning that they were featuring 1993...

Brooks used to always have a good prank on their website but I never got around to checking it this year.
