I did the North Shore Century yesterday and had a blast. It was so great to meet many Chainlinkers there. I'm looking to do another century - which are your favorites in the area?

Evanston Bike Club does an amazing job putting on this event. So glad the weather cooperated - such a perfect day.

That was an outstanding event.  Weather I was great and the course - except for the "scenic" tour of Waukegan - was wonderful.  Seems like they put a lot of effort into the route planning.

Saw first hand the dangers of group think when I followed a group of riders in front who it turned out had missed a turn. So I did about five extra miles :(

I rode with Jasmin for a while and her fellow Chainlinkers.

Now on to Apple Century Ride this coming weekend! Jeremy perhaps we can make a better plan to meet up. There was no way to find you yesterday.

Sending you a message. :)

I'd highly recommend the Apple Cider Century in Three Oaks, MI. It's on Sunday, though I believe registration is closed at this point.

There's also the Chicago Perimeter Ride, which is a century-ish, and is coming up in early October.

The Pumpkin Pie Ride has a century route and is October 2nd. It's down in Ottawa, and usually loops through some great roads by Starved Rock.

And if you're looking to go farther south still, there's the Tour de Shawnee (which I hear is great, but I've never done).

Finally and least formally, the Beer Run Century loops from Chicago to Kenosha and back and can be done any time the craving for New Glarus strikes. :)

We overlapped at most of the rest stops at the NSC, and you looked like you were having a great time. Glad that was the case!

Yeah, I believe I saw you too :) I'm curious about the Pumpkin Pie Ride around Starved Rock - is that one paved or gravel?

It's all paved, and nicely rolling. I hope to make it this year if work doesn't interfere.

The Starved Rock Cycling Club has it up on their website here: http://www.starvedrockcycling.com/Pumpkin%20Pie%20Ride/ppr.html

Awesome, thanks. I did the Apple Cider Century as my first (and only before NSC^^) century 2 years ago and loved it, but I'd be curious to check this one out next month.

I've done Apple Cider. Very well run. Great food. Well marked routes. Beautiful area.

Yes!  Thanks to Evanston Bike Club for putting on such a great ride!  Most Chicago-area centuries I've done (Bike Psychos, Joliet, Ride Like An Egyptian, etc) ride through corn fields - not much to see there.  I love NSC because of the route.

I agree it was a great ride and very well organized.  My second one, and will be doing it again.  Damn, my quads are sore today!
