Message of camaraderie: the courier championships have come to Chicago!

This week hundreds of bike couriers from all over the globe have converged in Chicago for the 20th annual Cycle Messenger World Championships, a series of races, arts events and parties celebrating their unique lifestyle: http://gridchicago.com/2012/message-of-cameraderie-the-courier-cham...

"Civilians" are welcome to compete in the races, or just show up, drink beer and cheer on the competitors. The main races take place all day this Saturday and Sunday, starting at 10 am, in the south parking lot of Soldier Field, 18th and the Lakefront Trail, next to the sled hill, and it's free to spectate. Saturday night is the infamous Messenger Prom, 8 pm at Groovemaster Studios, 1719 S. Clinton.

Anybody planning on participating?

Keep moving forward,

John Greenfield

Any merch for sale?

Oh yeah, there will be lots of cool schwag. I believe lots of bike and messenger bag companies will have tables at Soldier Field, and they're selling these cool caps: http://www.facebook.com/ChicagoCMWC/app_150178545006427

That was the North American Championships (NACCCs).  This is the Big One.

Between this and Lolla, downtown is gonna be crazy this weekend!

Go, local messengers...hope Chicago takes first place for women and men!

PS: I'm gonna try and bike by Sunday!

I've uploaded photos from some of the lead-up events: Chicago CMWC 2012 (Flickr group). (Here are my NACCC 2008 photos.) If you take photos of the event, and use Flickr, please add them to the aforementioned group.
