That is very very sad.My thoughts and prays go out to his family at this moment.Just reminds you,how dangerous riding a bike can be in the city.
Sad news. My thoughts go out to his family....
Damn. i used to ride through that intersection at least once a week. Nearly got my coupons clipped more than once...

And of course, the driver was uninsured.

i hope the ride'rs family sues that guy into oblivion, not that that will bring him back...
Its a war out there for us cyclists!

I hope we can make Chicago cooler than Amsterdam.

Are we gonna do a ghost ride out that far?
Not to minimize the tragedy of this or of any other cycling fatality, but the number of cyclists continues to increase. If the fatality rate remains constant, cycling is getting safer on a statistical basis.

Amsterdam had 19 cycling fatalities in the three year period from 2004-2006.

Not to detract from the tragedy of this situation, but speaking in regard to cyclist deaths within Chicago city limits, I think we've been pretty steady at around 4-6 a year for the last few years; it often does seem that they happen in clusters.

Milwaukee Ave. looks like its becoming a very popular route for the growing number of cycling commuters. It would be great to have at least one side of the street get rid of parking to accomodate even more riders.
What time?

LOL It's "Be there or be square", but "Be there or suck" sounds so much better.
