So...is there a reliable source for the latest updates on construction on the Lakefront Trail?? I couldn't find anything on the Chicago Park District web site. There was a mention on their Facebook page a few weeks ago that there would be construction, but that's about it.
Googling didn't help.
I thought for sure there would be something here, but I wasn't able to find anything...
I knew about the construction happening between Foster and Argyle -- until I found out the hard way this morning that it was done and moved, so I managed to take partly an alternate path and partly just the grass adjacent to the construction fencing (I hate doing that) around the closure between Lawrence and Montrose.
I had heard on the news that construction would start on the north end and work its way south...what I never heard was that concurrently there'd be construction between Diversey and Fullerton...ughhh....found that out the hard way this morning, too...I think I had to deal with an additional 30 minutes on my commute to work...

As of 4:30 PM, #chiLFT is open for riding/walking both directions, from Oak to Fullerton + beyond. #bikeCHI #runCHI pic.twitter.com/MjjxfFFj9p |
Might be worth mentioning that the fences in that photo will have to be taken down, so there might still be some blockage tomorrow.
And that's assuming they didn't just temporarily re-open the fenced section, just to ease some complaints.
No tweets from @ChicagoParks since this one, which says some sections would be closed thru 8/12:

Due to various circumstances, my commutes last week were relegated to CTA. Didn't have a chance to ride my bike until Friday. Both ways I was able to take the LFT all the way, no blockages -- except at North Avenue Beach they labeled part of the path as a "detour" despite, I always thought, it being the regular way anyway....but...maybe they're done fake-repaving??
That "detour" was to route people away from Castaways for the Air & Water Show. Happens every year, usually starting the Wednesday before the show.
While the work is needed it would be nice to post notifications a little earlier. Guess I'll go in on State and Dearborn for the rest of the week.
