Is there a "just doored" section because it just happened to me 10 minutes ago

I was just doored heading east on Diversey ave a couple blocks west of Racine ave by a hispanic man who didn't speak much english at all and drove off immediately after I tried "talking" to him about it. I didn't get a plate number because I was in a daze and I still am. I have road rash on my arms, but I seem to be ok... I think. I have weird head, shoulder and neck pain. Luckily I was wearing my helmet today because it cracked on the ground on impact. Otherwise there would probably be skull bits all over the pavement.

I didn't even know what happened, I just felt impact and my head smacked the ground. I'm ashamed that I don't have health insurance, but I just can't afford it.

About the only advice I feel qualified giving out is to stay off the bike for a while, especially since you're having pain in different areas of your body.  It's possible you have a concussion, but I'm sure you'd have to see a doctor to determine which grade.  Avoiding strenuous exercise is probably the smartest thing you can do when a concussion is involved.  Monitor yourself and don't overdo it for a while, especially if you've had concussions in the past.  Good luck, and glad to see you're well enough to be typing, at least.

ok gonna go lie down cuz i'm feeling nauseous and gonna puke

Apparently there is no medical treatment available for concussions -- only rest and controlling your exposure to light etc.  Look into getting a CTA pass or something while you recover.

Don't lie down! Especially if you feel like you're nauseous.

Go to the ER. Have someone take you to Stroger if you can.

They'll see you without insurance, they have to. They also have social workers on staff that work out funding for uninsured patients.

Go to Dr now.

Yes. Go to the doctor now.

There may be no treatment for a concussion but they will check to see if you have brain swelling or contusion or if you injured your neck, any of which they can and need to treat.

Do you have anyone you can call?

Yeah I can call my roommate or maybe a friend, but most are at work at the moment. I was thinking of hopping in a cab to Cook County hospital...

A cab is a good idea. I'm car-less, but home. You can call me if you need to talk to someone to keep you awake and alert, or whatever. My number is 312-286-8971.

Yeah, phone would be better.  Staring at the computer screen is not a good idea and will probably make you more nauseous.

Neck pain with a concussion is not a good sign.

Since you're alone, I would recommend just taking a cab.  Your health is more important than some medical bills.  There are people who can work with your afterwards to help with that.

so... waiting for a cab, on my phone. Are you any of you even doctors? I've worked at clinics before (business side) and they usually do a head CT to check for edema or other issues and then send you home after waiting 5 hours...

If someone can go with you, that's probably a good idea.  Please let us know how you're doing.

Were there any witnesses?  If so, were you able to get contact info for any of them?
