Illinois driver education students using BikeSafetyQuiz.com; mini-grants available

From Mon-Fri this week, Ride Illinois' BikeSafetyQuiz.com had 1438 users, the vast majority being driver education students in Illinois.  The online learning lesson helps fill a serious education gap on driving safely in the presence of bicycles, discussing relevant laws and avoidance of common crash types.

The numbers are largely the result of our IDOT-funded mini-grant program reimbursing driver ed programs (and elementary schools) for assigning BSQ as a computer assignment in their classrooms.  Applications by high schools and private driving programs are still being accepted at www.surveymonkey.com/r/G5F5W97, with a nearly 100% chance of winning a mini-grant.  (Elementary schools:  www.surveymonkey.com/r/BCCWWC6)

If you or someone you know are an instructor, or if you would like to encourage your local high school to apply, we would welcome your help!  All of us who bike would benefit.

Shared. I hope that more high schools will take advantage of this.
