Yesterday I grabbed a raincoat just before leaving in the morning and stuffed it into my pannier. It was not needed during a pleasant commute in the morning.  I walked outside at 5:45 pm into a driving rain. the coat was on and the hood covered  my helmet as I happily rode watching sloppy   pedestrians and riders who had no gear.  I was dry and a bit smug. I did not go all the way home. I had somewhere to go. I got back on  my bike around  9:45 pm and the rain had started again.  I donned the coat and  happily pedaled watching fountains created by my fenders lead the way until the flashes of lightening above my head coupled with the proximity of the thunder made me question things.  I saw flashes coming  near the ground and decided to wait out the storm. I sat in a Starbucks that was still open for about 20 minutes until the  most violent elements had passed by.  With an increased heart rate (not effort but fear) I rode the rest of the way home to find a spouse who knew what I had been doing and coping with the stress of having her dolt of a husband playing leapfrog with lightning bolts.

I am always amazed at the way you capture the water in these photos.

Thanks, Lisa. It is actually fun to ride close to the water, take the photo and then dodge away from the wave. Getting wet is part of the game, and I usually do.
