55 second video: I stumbled across this horn player at the Bill Jarvis Bird Sancuary in Chicago along the lakefront.

We live in a resort town that is full of character and characters, and I get to play in its sandbox daily. Yes, indeedy, I love it.

Unusual community art in Rogers Park... (sorry for the crappy photo - I stopped for something else, then noticed these guys hanging there. I was clearly too close...)

I road out way north, along the Skokie Valley Trail to Lake Bluff.  Just south of the North Shore Bike Path, just south of the tunnel under the railroad tracks just to the east side of the trail where it turns I've seen this memorial.  I've been by here several time and I wondered what the background story is, if anybody knows.

I wanted to see how the street-scaping was progressing so I took Lawrence to the lakefront this morning.  It wasn't too bad, other than at least 6 drivers pulling out directly in-front of me to squeeze through like it's still two lanes when things backed up.  Which really seemed to upset everyone else, b/c people were trying to sneak through yellows and reds, creating more clusterfucks at every intersection up to Clark.  But other than feeling like my life was in danger it was fine.  I'm sure a final coat of paint will calm everything down.

My ride home was the first time I was really caught in a storm this year.  Confirmed that I do not melt in the rain, but there were a few minutes during which I was concerned that I would drown!  And if anyone is wondering if the pedestrian/bike underpass at Fullerton floods when it rains hard I can confirm that it does and it gets deep.
