Still some flowers in bloom, I see. That would explain why after the wind finally died down a bit there was bat food on the wing again this morning... :-)
Today was a pleasant day to ride to work, but it was both amusing and eye-rolling to:
- watch folks in Lincoln Park trying to hail off-duty striking cabs
- be behind a woman for three miles on Clark Street on her bike and who 1) ran every stop sign she could and 2) ran every red light she could. But at least with all that risky behavior she was wise enough to have a helmet....that was dangling from the handlebars. Seriously??
Some people like playing Russian Roulette. Either that or she's practicing Frogger on bike.
Hit the road about 4:50am, made my way north to Lake Bluff, and was treated to one of the most spectacular displays of astronomy I can ever recall along the lakefront. Venus, Jupiter, Mars, and the crescent moon have been putting on a show for a couple of days. However, low on the horizon, elusive Mercury decided to make a special appearance as well. All I can say is WOW! If you were out biking early this morning, you got a real eyeful.
This picture doesn't do it justice, but this is what it looked like when all four planets were visible. You'll need to use your imagination--the phone wasn't sensitive enough to pick up Mercury and Mars.
