Yes, took the Lake Front Trail. Was mostly okay except for the Fullerton bypass, which is a mess. I'd almost rather ride on the closed-off asphalt part. I heard a while back that the Army Corps of Engineers was supposed supposed to be filling in the portion of the lake adjacent to the path in that area. Anyone have any info on if/when this is happening?

Adam that is part of the plan to reconfigure that area.  There were public meetings over the summer, but I have not seen anything on a final plan.  And that is quite a mess!  I bet it is going to be even worse after the rain. :-(

Yeah, I've been walking my bike across that muck the last few days. Because it's not paved, it's nearly impossible to properly salt and plow. I wonder if dropping a bunch of non-slip plates over that area could be a good stop-gap fix. Or at least some gravel. That would still be better than the mud/sand path it is now.

Anticipating just such a mess, I got off at Fullerton and cut over to Clark, then Wells. Still kind of a slushy ride, all-in-all. I'll take the slush over the polar vortex any day though. :-)

Seems it would be rather simple to just blacktop it.

I've been sorely tempted to buy a light plastic snow shovel and take a few hours out of weekends to clear bits of the trail like the Fullerton stretch (and sometimes Oak) myself.  Has anyone ever tried to organize a group to go out and clear parts that could be cleared but the Park District ignores all winter?

The side streets are very VERY VERY slippery. I hope to catch some of you before you leave work. Water on top of ice is a very dangerous situation. The lakefront path was OK from Belmont to Buena, but the side streets from Erie to Belmont were slick. Be cautious.

Yes. I started slippingnear the zoo. Worked my way back to Clark but gave up in a'ville. I'm on the bus now. Best to use other transportation this evening.

Im about to take Evanston lake front trail south then Ardmore to LFT to uptown.  I have an ice tire in front so I think I should be ok but ya this is like the most slippery kind of road condition.  Be careful!!!

Things must have deteriorated really fast. I left around 4:20 and was home before 5:00. Roads including my couple of blocks on side streets were fine except for all of the drivers who were in a really big hurry to get somewhere. Stay safe everyone.
