WTF?  I sure hope that doesn't happen here.

Glad to see the cops are starting to pay attention.

As a prep-school executive with a name like hers (i.e. privileged and white) she should have known that picking up her kid from school requires a smug-mobile, not a Dahon.

NEXT UP:

NYC taxpayers sue NYPD for wasting their money.  Stay tuned.  (I wish.)

Yikes.  The brass in NYC has really got the hate on for bicycles lately.  I'm afraid that sooner or later is will happen here too.
It's kind of baffling that the officer told her straight up that the ticket was frivolous while he was writing it.

This says it all,

When she protested, she said the officer comforted her by adding, "Don't worry, you can go to court. The judges always throw these out."

Nothing more than a cyclist-hating cop who is willing to waste the city's time and money to make someone's day worse.

I refuse to believe that there is actually someone named Claire Lecomte du Nouy. That roughly translates to Lady Hermione Snootypants Threepwood-Davenport.

Also, this really isn't the cop's fault. NYPD actually has ticket quotas. Some idiot somewhere probably handed down a quota on cycling citations, thus absurdities like this and the guy who got ticketed in Central Park for speeding while going 15 mph.

You are correct. That is not her name. Her actual name is Claire Elizabeth Lecomte du Noüy.

Folks of her heritage should be portaging their belongings in a Brooks pannier, or at the very least a Basil Pannier. What has this world come to? Soon I won't be able to tell apart the transients and DUIers from the rich and wealthy

Ticket should have been for those shoes!

This would have not been "news" if she wasn't a rich white chick...
Why even go to court? It sounds like he wrote a ticket for something that's not illegal.
Is this something the Bike Snob would eat up?
