Currently I'm working on a build to get an 86' Trek back into shape as a proper road bike. I'm trying to do this on the cheap, so Heritage's $100 frame/fork powder coat is looking pretty attractive. Has anyone used their powder coating services and could speak to the quality?
Thanks!!

I don't know about the powdercoat but I will definitely vouch for their head mechanic. He did a lot of work on the Rivendell I used to own and it was in "new" shape when I sold it. I changed a few things around and he was so careful with it, the bike was in perfect condition. I received a very happy note from the person that bought it who gushed about the condition of the bike. I would trust Ben with my bikes any day.
Ben has, I believe, moved on to being a team mechanic and is no longer there.

Update: about 2 weeks ago, I called Heritage and asked about powdercoating a frame and fork that I'd disassemble myself. They quoted me about 3-4 weeks, but when I told them that I kind of needed it in less than 2, they were ultra-friendly and worked with me to actually make it happen. I dropped it off on the 9th, and they returned it to me yesterday--chased, faced, and ready to go. I was real nervous about the lugs, because powdercoats tend to go on pretty thick, but there's definitely still enough here for me to work with.
Overall, I'm pleased -- you can't beat $100, they have a vast range of colors, Alex was friendly and accommodating w/r/t my aggressive schedule, and I think it looks good. (And, for what it's worth, it sounds like the place they outsource the powdercoating to does the work for a lot of other framebuilders/shops around the city, which I feel is reassuring.)
