On my ride in this morning I noticed grease (used fryer oil most likely) spilled on the road between Belmont and Western on Elston heading SE into the city - the intersections are particularly slippery. Saw one rider go down at Belmont.

Did you call it in to 311?

That happened to me once. I went straight down.  Def report it and if anyone is riding by there later today let us know if it has been cleaned up yet.  Definite hazard.

I'll be through there this evening and update later.  Going into the city.

I think I hit this spill this am as well. At first I just thought my front rim brakes were shot.

What time were people riding in? I rode this stretch between 5-5:30 am and didn't notice anything strange or slippery.

I was there around 7:30 am

Brain fart - no.

I was probably about 15 minutes behind you.

Rode from Milwaukee & Elston to Milwaukee & Elston (did you know this is the only intersection in Chicago that happens twice?) about an hour ago and didn't notice anything.

Superdawg!

I live less than a mile from there.

As for the grease, there was a bike slick spill-o-something at the corner of Elston and Western headed into the city.  I watched a rider skid to a stop, I hopped the curb and walked around it.  But that was all I saw.
