I just saw this on Cope Cycle Chic's guide to biking in the winter and thought you would all enjoy it.

This is almost bizarrely agreeable for a beer ad.

This commercial makes me look forward to riding in the snow.

(Don't ask me about how I feel about riding in the snow come February and March though.)

ya, i surprisingly like that.  good job tapping into a niche audience

If by niche audience you mean middle aged men whose drivers license has been suspended thanks to their 3rd DUI and who believe that High Life is indeed the 'Champagne of beers', then yes, they did a good job.

The ads Errol Morris did for High Life are some of the best commercials ever made; I can spend way to much time watching them...

Awe Duppie, why'd you have to snow on our parade?  Didn't the ad say something about "no need for petrol prices to ciphon in on his "high life"?  Sounds like they are implying is that by riding bikes we can save our gas money to buy beer...that's sound financial advice if you ask me. :-)  Although, I prefer a nice local craft beer, some hard cider or wine to fuel me.

I wonder if perhaps it was meant for a UK audience since they used the term "petrol."  I also like the presentation of the man riding his bike in the snow as a "patriot" and a "hero" and the sound track of the clinking bottles, winter wind and the rider's huffing efforts.

Sorry April, but I'm with Duppie on this one.

He would've driven his rider mower, though. Just like George Jones.

;)

Where did the last 20 minutes of my life go?

They were US ads from around 2000 or 2001 done by Errol Morris.  The whole series focused on stereotypical old school 'man' stuff.

That ad reminds me of my father.  He used to wear Boondockers and white socks and pants that were a wee bit too short for a man wearing boondockers and white socks.
