Friday Funnies: This Writer's Anti-Cyclist Rant is Ridic

It's so bad, so poorly argued I can't help but laugh. At first, I thought it was written as a joke. Check out the headline, "Cyclists are a menace and should be banned from the roads" and the lovely picture of rabid cyclists that look like they'd been crossed with vampires. *sigh*

Kudos for posting not the original article (so as not to give it undeserved hits) but rather this article critiquing it!

There is one thing I do disagree about in the critique - because I'm going to quote something that's quoting something I'll demarcate it with an all caps "BEGIN QUOTE" and "END QUOTE"

BEGIN QUOTE:

“Plus, a bike’s construction is frankly some kind of highly suspicious witchcraft – how do they even stay up at all?”

And there we have it. The words that completely undermine everything Ms Caster has ranted about thus far: “How do they even stay up at all?”

It’s a classic case of hating something that you don’t understand. “Oh, I hate the French because I can’t understand what they’re saying.”

It’s simple physics really.

END QUOTE.

In fairness to the anti cyclist ranter- according to this cracked article at least- she's right: http://www.cracked.com/article_19442_8-simple-questions-you-wont-be...

The linked article is really good, but there is one error. the author, Stuart Clarke, said Caster (who wrote the original article) had her head in the sand. I'm pretty sure she had it somewhere else.

Ha! Yup, agree. "Sand" is kind. ;-)
