From Crains - Free Wi-Fi will be available throughout Millennium Park, effective immediately. That's part of a City Hall initiative that also calls for bringing low-cost Internet to 15 emerging business zones and offering free Wi-Fi in every city park. Mayor Emanuel is planning to announce today his "broadband challenge," which would involve leasing public assets to those who will build gigabit-speed networks, helping to position Chicago for the digital age.

But you have to pay for that, right? This is free, but yes, it had to be fest for it to be useful. I paid $5 last month to use wifi on a plane and it sucked. waste of money.

Nice, though about ten years too late, as faster 4G nets already cover the area. But still a nice city amenity.
