Favorite Local Brewery

Since beer and cycling seem to go together, I am posing the question: what is everyone's favorite Chicago brewery? Mine is a toss-up between Half Acre and Revolution. If we are including all of Chicagoland, then I'd go with Three Floyd's.

One of my favorites is Two Brothers - not in Chicago, but a bike ride away in Warrenville, Il.

Half Acre, cause I live a few blocks from it and the beer is excellent.

A great ride is to out to 3Floyds, then west to Flossmore and metra back.

Do the two breweries in my house count? Because they are my favorites.

I admit that I need to get out more, but I'm not overwhelmed with any of the commercial local breweries. I love the idea of drinking local and craft brewing in general - but I'm also a hop head and no-one other than my brother across the hall is making an IPA that I'm in love with. (For reference, Modus Hoperandi - from Colorado somewhere is pretty close to my ideal.) If I had to pick a local favorite beer it would Half Acre's Daisy Cutter - which is just a pale, but it is nearly hoppy enough.

I also really like Three Floyd's Alpha King, but come on people, should we have to go to Indiana for beer?

Revolutionn, Haymarket and Two Brothers brew some nice beer, but I don't recall being blown away by any of them.

Haven't been to Flossmor or Piece recently enough to remember what they have there.

It may be that there is an actual movement among Chicago brewers to neglect the IPA in an attempt to carve out their own niche? I dunno what it is, but I'm not happy about it.

Lunar Brewery where bar flies rub shoulders with beer snobs in Villa Park, just north off the Great Western Path, 10+ miles west of Forest Park Blue Line stop!

I heard The Onion Pub & Brewery in Barrington Hills is great too. I've never been, but that'd be a great Ride-out / Metra-Back kind of thing.

I have not tried the Double Daisy Cutter. Thanks for the tip! (see I really do need to get out more). I have had the Anti-Hero on a few occasions. It doesn't do it for me. It has been too long since I've been there to remember exactly what the problem is.

I found Daisy Cutter at a Fair Play (45th and Halsted) last week. Somebody is really on the ball getting that stuff widely distributed!
