The Chainlink

I've posted an article on my blog about why I bike. If you'd like to read it, I would love some feedback from bikers. Here is the start the post just follow the link to read the rest. Thanks.

Bikers are a source of unending trepidation and annoyance for motorists, while motorists are a source of unending death to bikers. The trade off seems fair enough. Living in Chicago, I ride my bike everywhere that I go. I don’t own a car and detest public transit. Many folks have a hard time understanding how cyclists have the nerve in traffic with the high level of sweat, danger, and fear involved. For the person who hasn’t cycled the thought of riding a bike through rush hour traffic down town might seem outright crazy. However, we cyclists have our reasons. Reasons I believe that should make it abundantly clear why everyone should own a bike...

Great job. I like the "bikes are fun" part the best. I've un-crushed my crushed inner child with bikes! You've hit the nail on the head!
Yes!! And I'll add:

9. Ability to stop and smell the roses anytime.
10. Freedom

I'll see your 'Crazy Bums on the CTA' and raise you twice.

12)Smokers on the CTA - Getting on an empty train car with two other people, one guys asks if either of us smoke. The other guy busts out a pouch of tobacco, and the guy who asked rolls a cigarette and lights it in the train car.

13)Sloppy drunks - I cross over to a different car, and it reeks of beer like someone brought in a case and dumped it all over the floor.

I think I'll bike more - my bike doesn't reek of smoke or beer. Thanks.

1) Get to see all of the crazy shit that you can only see via riding a bike.
2) Makes me fit and allows me to eat almost anything and not feel guilty about getting fat.
3) Freedom of the open road and trail
4) Makes me relive my childhood and all the things that are great about riding.
5) Saves gas and money.
6) Meet new and interesting people, hotties galore in the summer.
7) Great time with of without friends.
8) All of the great places and experiences I have had that most people can only dream about or read in a book.
sport/lifestyle
health/fitness
being in the moment while i ride
geeking out about bike gear
not getting stuck in traffic jams
seeing the city on equal terms
self-reliance
save beaucoup dollars
1) never get stopped for being intoxicated
2) always find meeting new people that are more interesting and exciting than when I am driving
3) makes me a better person when I take a nosedive into the concrete
4) will get me laid from time to time
5) gives me an excuse to tell others how weak and worthless they are
6) gets me invited to parties that I normally would not attend
7) lets me dress up in costume that in other circumstance would label me as a transvestite.
8) allows me to become more adjusted to the cold and tough up
9) smoke less than I normally would
10) makes my legs hard a rocks and gives me a nice dancer body that everyone else seems to have to get surgery for
And hotties even in the winter, though perhaps not quite as galore as in the summer. But I find winter hotties hotter than strictly-summer hotties.
