This happened on the Madison Street bike land and luckily, the incident was captured by the cyclist's Go-Pro. Looks like they have the license plate and the driver.

I find it a difficult to defend a cyclist who literally dares a road rager to come and get him. He took his chances, and then the almost-worst-case-scenario happened. Then when the attacker starting hitting him, he sounded genuinely surprised.

The attacker should be arrested, but one has to recognize that the cyclist taunted him.

Regardless, this makes a great case for always having your camera running.

His youtube channel is just full of videos of him and "issues" with cars in the bike lane.  He seems lucky that he hasn't come across another crazy person before.  This backs up my point that this isn't the case we want the media to pick up to get drivers and others to realize the issues that bicyclists face riding in the city.

If nothing else, can they impound the car during investigation until they get the guys name / statue of limitations expire?   Or even as evidence until the trial is complete?

The driver hasn't been arrested yet???  That guy needs to do some time and have his license revoked, period.

Do we know? How would we even find out if the victim or the police don't announce?
