Donating old bikes in the suburbs?

Does anyone have a recommendation for a plan to donate an old bike in the suburbs (preferably west suburbs)? I am having a bit of trouble trying to find a reliable place to donate an old bike. It doesn't seem that the suburbs have the same sort of drop off organizations the city does.

My LBS's don't want an old bike. It seems that Performance Bike, may be the only chain that reliably accepts old bikes. 

Any thoughts?

How western a suburb? I end up out there with some frequency and I work near working bikes so I could probably make a delivery if that's useful.

Although not western, try Mikes Bikes (no apostrophe!) in Palatine.
