and noticed a lady next to me. Her head bobbed a few times and I thought to myself, "That's weird". Next thing I hear is a loud "CRUNCH" and she had face planted on the pavement. She had a helmet on and everyone around me stopped and rushed to her aid, but she was face down on the street and unconscious. A few blocks down I spotted the Marauders and pulled over. I saw a guy pass me up who also witnessed the crash and stopped to help her and he said that she was dehydrated and she either broke or separated her collarbone, but she was okay.
.
Some brutal scenery on this year's ride!
It was my first and last LATE ride. Very unenjoyable. I'd rather ride in Critical Mass. As for hydration, I felt we were guinea pigs for weird bottle/canned beverages. At the start they passed out cans of a lemon/cucumber flavored water (bad). At the rest area various flavors (cherry, lemon & lime ) of a mint based water (very bad) and samples of a femented natural soda. At the end warm soy milk, warm chocolate or vanilla shakes, and a palatable peach kefir smoothie and a chunky pineapple/banana fruit drink (only thing I really liked).
Missed all the mayhem since after the rest stop I tried to make time and beat most of the crowd.
