There is a meeting about North Lake Shore Drive between Montrose and Lawrence tonight.
Rebuilding this portion of North Lake Shore Drive affects not only those of us who live west of this section of the Drive, but all bicyclists passing through the area on the lakefront trail, and those cycling to the beaches and park areas.
Come to this meeting tonight to ensure that cyclists' voices are heard:

I am planning to attend tonight. What I find alarming is that while several new bridges are planned to make the "bike" path more direct by crossing over the various access points (good), but...when the "bike" path gets to Montrose, it reverts to the same failed new design that goes east of Cricket Hill, then back west to cross under Wilson, then back east to go back to Simmonds, then back west to LSD at Lawrence. What is the obsession with routing bikes east of Cricket Hill? In short, the proposed plan is for the "bike" path to hug LSD all the way, except for between Montrose and Lawrence. With the amount of money and engineering for the rest of this project, surely there is a way to make Montrose-Lawrence direct as well.

The meeting only focused on the section between Lawrence and Montrose. The Park District was supposed to be there, but didn't show up, so there was no discussion about the LFT configuration. There was opportunity for written comments, which will hopefully get to the Park District.
The project website has information and a comment form (under "contact us") where you can comment on the proposed plans as well. This project includes a significant redesign of the Lake Front Trail from Grand to Hollywood and you can view the in-progress plans on the website as well:
