"Riding your bike to work is a good, healthy thing to do, but it's a dangerous intersection to cross," Cammiso said.

Fuck you, Sgt.  That whole area (along Diehl) is nasty as hell because you guys don't bother to patrol it. I can hardly even stand to drive there, much less bike.  Even when the random cop does go through there, they break as many laws as the rest of the drivers and don't bother to ticket.  How 'bout we start actually enforcing the laws instead of making up bullshit excuses when something happens?

+1. RIP cyclist and condolences to family and friends

I meant to put RIP cyclist on my earlier rant, but my emotions got the better of me.

I have been concerned about the sunlight for the past two weeks or so-- it's been pretty much in line with the east/west grid.

Agree, if you can't see what's in front of you, your foot doesn't belong anywhere near the gas pedal.

It was an early morning collision, with the driver going east, and police say "sunlight" is one cause being investigated.  When you are driving and can't see where you are going, it's time to slow down, right?  So very sad...

Exactly. If you can't see, why are you moving forward at all? Terrifying.

yeah...but as we all know (preaching to the choir here) motorists put cell phones in front of their eyes daily. very sad. totally unavoidable. when I drive into the sun (it scares me) I use dark sunglasses, the flip-down visor AND a baseball hat. call me OCD.

Yup, this time of year and right around the equinox in March sunup and sundown are treacherous. Be careful as the sun is either right in your face or right in the face of the person coming at you.  This is difficult and calls for vigilance no matter what you are using to get around town. Speaking of conveyances (minor thread drift) kudos to the long legged guy who easily skated by me on Lincoln Ave. last night while I was riding about 13.5 mph.

Not an "accident" but a collision of two vehicles, one not driving properly for conditions and the other not protected by steel. I ride that stretch regularly enough to know that it is only a "dangerous intersection" due to overly aggressive drivers trying to get on/off the i88.

Thoughts and prayers with the family. Another life needlessly lost...
