Don't know about bicycle parking;  still not the greatest area in the city. Long pants and a shirt with a collar would be nice.  Also, security is strict there, so don't bring a lot of stuff that you will have to take out of your pockets or that might irritate the deputy sheriffs.  Do take something to read unless you like daytime television.

I was just through this.

There are two city U-racks near the curb in front of (a hair north of) the entrance, and they tend to be underutilized. They are clearly visible from Google street view.

If you're going for jury duty you get treated a bit better than attending a court case as a spectator; you can bring any electronic devices you like (although I wouldn't bring a camera that's not part of another device.)  I can't remember if there was an open wireless network but I passed the time with my Nano burning through the 4th season of Breaking Bad.  Laptops are fine.

You'll basically just put everything in your pockets in a plastic bin so no worries about irritating anyone; you'll have to take off your belt too.

No dress code for jury duty; I absolutely wouldn't bother dressing up in any way.

I live < 4 blocks from there and would not worry one bit about the neighborhood (unless you're afraid of county police and lawyers.)

Yeah, what H said. I'm about ten minutes from 26th and Cal, Little Village gets a bad rap usually. Sure it may not be as "safe" as sone areas, but way safer than some others.

Lunch in Little Village is, for me, one of the highlights of jury duty at 26th and Cal.

I doubt they will let you take tools into the building no matter how nice they are to jurors.  http://www.cookcountycourt.org/jury/index.html

Daley Center has facilities (pay!) for storing things while in the courthouse.  Anyone know whether 26th and Cal has that?

Joe, could you suggest a place or two? I'm sometimes down the street from that area for work and wouldn't mind trying something new the next time I'm there. I don't know Little Village at all.
