Not entirely clear where the declaration from the city comes in. Unless "Elliot Greenberg, Divvy" is being considered "the city."

Chicago’s bike-sharing program on Saturday afternoon became for a short time the busiest bike-sharing program in the world in terms of percentage of available bikes in use.

At its peak, 38 percent of the 710 operational bikes stationed around the city were in use Saturday afternoon, according to Elliot Greenberger, spokesman for “Divvy,” Chicago’s bike-sharing program.

Haha, percentage in use. Must be the same logic they use to say crime isn't bad.

Very encouraging news! So much so that some people whom I never expected to ride a bicycle in the city signed up and posted FB pictures of their new way of getting around.

How else could they compare programs with vastly different numbers of bicycles in use?

They could wait more than 3 weeks to declare victory...

Just fyi, here's the official press release this story was based on.  It looks like a London group made the "world's busiest" claim.

Despite the hype, it's exciting to see (in the press release) about 40 more stations are scheduled for launch.
