Chicago IL to Grand Rapids MI in ONE DAY intermodal fixie bike ride!!

Hello The Chainlink.

My long-time plan to ride Chicago to Grand Rapids Michigan became reality in June.

I live here, Mom lives in GR, recently I realized DOH! I can get there in ONE DAY!

06:00 AM Bike to Oglivie train station
06:33 AM Depart Chicago on Metra train
08:25 AM Bike 35 miles Kenosha WI to Milwaukee ferry terminal
12:30 PM Depart Milwaukee on Lake Express ferry
04:40 PM Bike 50 miles
09:00 PM Arrive Mom's

This was not planned as a fixie ride, but my geared bike suffered a catastrophic frame failure Wednesday, so I went ahead on the my lovely fixie.

Rails to Trails are AWESOME!!! Illinois, Wisconsin and Michigan - most of my riding was on old rail lines.

And Google Maps bike directions are amaziing!!! They are very conservative, keeping you off busy streets. But riding the route once gives me the knowledge to map a better trip next time,

you must be in really good shape.
im from georgia, and I really want to take my fixed from savannah to atlanta, but i feel like id die after 15 miles haha
youve given me motivation to work out and make it happen :)
