The family and the state requested a 10 year sentence. She had a previous DUI conviction. She fled the scene after hitting the cyclist, Tom Palermo with her car. She left him alone to die after she hit him so hard his helmet landed in her car after his head went through the windshield. How could Heather Cook only received a sentence of 7 years?
Clearly, we need stiffer penalties for DUIs before they kill but also when the driver driving under the influence kills and flees the scene, why doesn't she receive the maximum sentence?

Our local cycling community lost two of our own, Bobby Cann and Hector Avalos. As the court cases are currently active, please try to show your support. Having cyclists go to the court dates is critically important for both of these cases.
