does anyone know what kind of paint i can use on my seat? it would have to be water-resistant? do i need a sealer?
this should be the kind of question i know the answer to, but am coming up dry. i saw someone's painted seat and fell in love ...

Look into vinyl upholstery paint from an upholstery shop that does car interiors. It's tough stuff as it is used on car seats and won't rub off on your butt I have heard. The downsides are that it is pretty expensive, you can't buy it in tiny bottles so you will have to buy way too much, and it doesn't come in too many color choices.
But if you are crafty the sky is probably the limit in what you can do. Maybe you can do a group buy with other crafty folks to get a number of different colors.

If a group buy happens I'd be in for some blue or red (or both).
I was looking for a blue saddle on eBay and someone was selling a reconditioned old sprung blue saddle. They mentioned dye.
