"bike to work" week (Attn : Brian Morrissey of ATA ?)

lol - that sounds so funny posted here.

Seriously - my company sends a monthly fitness newsletter; and

apparently May 13-17 is the "official" bike to work week.

Will there be a similar campaign as in years past to distribute materials

to promote this to co-workers, etc. ?

thanks in advance

Hey Dan,

Thanks for asking...we posted a discussion on Chainlink about this year's Bike Commuter Challenge (June 8-14) here: http://www.thechainlink.org/forum/topics/it-s-on-the-bike-commuter-...

May is National Bike Month with the third week always being bike to work week. We certainly support people celebrating whenever is good for them and know that some suburban communities really push the May events (Arlington Heights, Downers Grove, and some others I think).

But, we've made a choice to celebrate a month later (third week in June) and the City of Chicago is also on board with this so efforts in Chicago and around the region driven by us (Bike Commuter Challenge) will happen in June.

We choose this because the weather is better and more people are likely to bike. In Florida, some cities celebrate in October because it's cooler, just too hot and muggy in May.

So, whenever you are celebrating, happy biking!

Thanks, Ethan Spotts, Active Trans (jumping in 'cause Brian's on vaca for a couple of days)

When we used to do Bike to Work week and the related Friday rally at Daley Plaza in mid May, the weather was too often cold and/or rainy.  We've had much better luck in mid June since the switch a few years back.
