So im finally starting to seriously get back on the bike after a 1.5 year break.

We dont have a garage and im wondering what people do for storage if they have to keep their bikes inside but have a toddler crawling around?

Note my husband isnt much of a biker so just leaving them all over will drive him nuts.

We have room outside too a decent amount that im ok using if we have a good plan (i admit to leaving my bike and trailer out all winter but its all working fine now). Its in the front so safer than the rear or side ive found. I know its not 100 theft proof but my bikes arent expensive so i will taje that risk with one to two locks as decent deterrent.

We have a hybrid that has an ibert front bike seat for short distances and a road bike with a detachable trailer.

There is one step in to our townhouse and its kinda narrow getting in and out.

Any suggestions appreciated!

Have you thought of buying a waterproof cover to put over your bike and trailer to keep them a little more protected from the elements? Obviously, the bike shed looks ideal but takes up more space and is more expensive. If the bikes were inside, I'd recommend hanging them like we do with the Container Store hooks. That's worked well for us.

I actually bought a cover from BFF which i havent used yet. Thinking ill leave one bike outside covered, the trailer also covered and my road bike inside and hang it (i figured out a place to hang it where i think we can also block it off so she doesnt get her hands caught playing with the bike. It wont look great but i think it will work.

I used to hang my bikes in an ikea shelving unit (thanks for Michael A) but i replaced it wuth shelves when i stopped riding and now Eliana would def get her fingers caught in the wheel, etc since there is no way to block the bike off hanging over there.

Excited to get back in the groove!

People sometimes use those hooks to hang bikes from the ceiling or can the road bike go in the basement since you use it less?

The commute to preschool sounds like an excellent way to get back in the groove. And Kidical Mass should be a lot of fun for you.

Got a backyard? Maybe you could get a little shed from Home Despot and store the bikes there?

We have a front yard so I'm thinking a combo of a shed in front and one bike inside will work.  Right now I have the playyard kinda blocking the one bike I have inside so she can't play with the wheels.  I may eventually hang the bike but we just put a nice shelf up (thanks to Hector and Iggy) so I'm hesitant to start scuffing up walls.
